Ethics
Life is One. What we do affects others. When we live as if life is not One, but many, we create waves of trouble for ourselves and each other. And yet each of us have our own life. Not one of us can live another person’s life. To take care of this Oneness that is also difference, we practice Bearing Witness. We seek to know the joys and sorrows of others as our own.
This is the mission of the LZS Statement of Ethics. In our Zen community of many, we seek to live in accord with our indivisible Oneness. We vow to embrace our inevitable differences as the reality of our Oneness. We are committed to the personal shifts we will need to make in order to honor each others’ differences and support each others’ practices.
